Over the summer I discovered an advertisement for a new bottled water company that was being advertised on GOOD magazine's (http://www.good.is/) website. I was appalled that such a great magazine would be endorsing this misleading product.
The reason that Re-source bottled water is claiming the "green" sticker is because they use 25% recycled material. So , if they're trying to be environmentally friendly, why don't they use a higher percentage of recycled materials? I think it's important to note that when Coke and Pespi both started coming out with their new bottled water products, they too promised that they would use a minimum of 25% recycled plastic in their products. But the simple fact is that newly produced plastic is cheaper than recycled plastic. And these companies are going to produce the product that yields them the highest return.
I was so disgusted with Re-source that I posted a comment on their page, and they replied!
Though they did admit that plastic cannot be traditionally recycled into more plastic, they did not remark on the fact that their bottles are unsafe to reuse.
